Walled Lake Weed and Muck Removal
We cut the weeds, pull the roots, and dredge the muck so your stretch of Walled Lake looks like a lake again, not a swamp.
Clearing weeds and muck on Walled Lake
Walled Lake is one of the busier lakes in western Oakland County, and anybody with a dock on it knows the deal. The middle runs better than 50 feet deep, but that is not where you swim or tie up the boat. Your problems live on the shallow shelf near shore, and on Walled Lake that shelf grows weeds and packs muck like clockwork every summer. All that boat traffic off Novi, Commerce Township, and Wixom chops the milfoil into pieces, and every piece drifts over and roots somewhere new.
That is where we come in. Aqua Contracting runs out of Highland and works lakes all over Oakland County, Walled Lake included. Shea owns the outfit and runs a crew, so it will not always be him standing on your dock, but it will always be our people and our equipment. We cut and haul weeds, dig out the roots so they quit coming back, and dredge the black muck off your bottom. No franchise, no runaround. Just the work.

Walled Lake sits on a soft, mucky bottom in close to shore, and that is exactly what Eurasian watermilfoil and curly leaf pondweed want. The pondweed jumps early, usually before the water even warms up good, and then the milfoil takes over through July and August and tops out right at the surface where your prop wants to be. On top of that you have got an old, built up shoreline. Decades of lawn fertilizer, leaves, and grass clippings have washed into this lake, and all that organic junk settles into the shallows as muck and feeds the next round of weeds and algae. If your kids used to walk out to a firm sandy bottom off the beach and now they sink to their knees in black goo, that is what happened.
We hit it three ways depending on what your stretch needs. Weed cutting and harvesting is the fast fix before a holiday weekend, we shear the tops and haul every bit of it off the lake so it does not sink back down and rot into more muck. Root removal is the longer play, we pull the milfoil and pondweed out at the root so it is not back in three weeks, which matters on a lake this chopped up by boat traffic. And when the bottom itself is the problem, muck removal and dredging is how we get you firm ground and real depth back at the dock and the swim area. Walled Lake questions
Not seeing your question?
Call Shea and ask. You get a straight answer on what your Walled Lake frontage needs.
(248) 309-0662For a lot of the work, yes. Michigan runs aquatic weed and bottom removal through EGLE, and dredging or chemical treatment usually needs a permit before anybody touches the water. Mechanical cutting and hand pulling around your own dock has more room, but the rules change with the size of the job. We deal with this on Oakland County lakes all the time and will walk you through what your project on Walled Lake actually needs before we start.
